What is Yin Yoga?
In this class, students will move their way into the quiet stillness of Yin, slowing down in both body and mind to offset the often stress-filled and busy lives that many of us live (the Yang nature). The long, steady holds in Yin Yoga bring lubrication to connective tissues (fascia, tendons, ligaments, and joints) increasing range of motion and maintaining mobility that is often diminished as our bodies age. Meditation and Pranayama (breath work) will accompany this practice. Whether you are an athlete, young parent or in your “go-go years”, the benefits of the mind/body/heart connection gained from Yin yoga will benefit you. All levels and ages welcome.
When: Sundays, May 3-June 14 (with no class on May 24) , 1-2 p.m
Where: KPort Rec Building
Cost: $30 for all six weeks/$6 drop in per class
About the instructor:
Tracey O' Roak, RYT-200 hour Fluid Yoga Certification, attended her first yoga class about 12 years ago, but it wasn’t until she found Samudra Studio in Saco that she fell in love with the practice. She was drawn to the calm and balance that it brings to her life. Tracey loves sharing awareness of the mind, body and spirit connection with others. She believes that yoga is more than a physical practice and while easing tension in the body through poses, when we connect our movements with breath, it can quiet the mind as well. Tracey’s classes are designed to serve all levels of experience.
